Awesome Clean Fun With The Swing Lamp From BCXSY

Scott Gundersen‘s line of work is not what one would call “common”. The designer and visual artist currently living in Chicago creates stunning portraits with the help of thousands of cork bottle stoppers. His intricate creations start off with a large scale photo, which Scott slowly fills up with corks. Each bottle stopper has its own, well chosen spot, in order to make the overall portrait as realistic as possible. The video at the end of the post is a film shot during the creation of  "Grace", a  66" x 96" portrait which took no less than  9,217 wine corks and 50 hours to build up. This contemporary 1,300 square foot cabin was designed by Stuart Silk Architects and is located on Lopez Island in Washington State. The building accommodates a living area plus kitchen, two small bedrooms bedrooms and two bathrooms. According to the architects, “a single shed roof cantilevers over this space, evoking a sense of protection and blurring the distinction between interior and exterior.The material selections and construction methods emphasize economy, low maintenance, and energy conservation.  Slab-on-grade construction is used for the interior flooring and adjacent terraces, simplifying construction and minimizing the use of raw materials. Corrugated metal siding and locally-sourced ground face concrete block (used in the interior spaces as well as the exterior) are durable, economical and true to the cabin aesthetic. Site disturbance is strictly localized, allowing for only minor construction grading that follows the natural contours of the site and preserves natural vegetation The concrete block walls and floor also serve as a thermal mass, regulating the interior temperature by storing daytime heat and releasing it at night“. Spanish designer Maximo Riera creates furniture pieces inspired by the fascinating animal world. Not too long ago, we featured two impressive furniture items on Freshome belonging to the same designer: the Octopus Chair and the Rhino Chair. Walrus is another seating unit with an aesthetic effect that is both strong and fascinating. Based on the alluring features of the large marine Arctic mammal, this new design dazzles the mind and senses. Elegant, refined and imposing, the chair can be a great addition to a minimalist contemporary interior, as to an office with a sober personality. Even though its size is considerable, we believe it makes quite a dramatic impression, a detail that could make up for it taking up a lot of space. The main living spaces – kitchen, living room, dining room – have a south-eastern orientation, while the hallway receives light from a series of effective ceiling slots. Two exceptional design elements meet to create an interesting effect: the marble rugged wooden staircase, accentuated by a vivid red wall construct a fascinating space when caressed by natural light. The master bedroom and two additional guest bedrooms upstairs – each with relaxing garden views – welcome tired individuals and offer an oasis of stress-free interior spaces.
