The masterminds behind this cute, little apartment in Poznan, Poland, are mode:lina, a Polish architecture firm that was inspired to create an apartment for guests visiting the city for the Poznan International Fair. As a result, they ended up with an apartment that combines elements reminiscent of the accommodating design fixtures of a hotel and the cozy environment of someone’s actual apartment. The designers also gave themselves an additional challenge – to use affordable, replaceable furniture. They turned to IKEA, which added to the uncomplicated, understated tone of the apartment.

A balcony offers guests a little outdoor escape. What I particularly appreciated were the quotations printed across the walls in some of the rooms, all urging guests to relax and reboot.

miura hotel night Modern Hotel with an impressive Architecture in the Czech Republic
Karel Říha of AMOSdesign sent us some photos of Hotel Miura, located in the north-western part of the Czech Republic. The further description is an excerpt from the press release we received: “Architecture of the entire building is rough as the surrounding mountains but at the same time cozy where it should be. Predominantly, it is made of concrete; on the outside, the concrete is combined with corroding corten sheet and violet glass. The case of the building is made of cembonite boards. Inside, concrete meets wood, stainless sheets and corian. The whole building is divided into 3 parts; one of these levitates freely above the terrain. Hotel rooms are situated in side wings and all are oriented southwards facing the golf course. Suites have glassed walls with a view of the Lysá hora mountain and surroundings. The central part of the building hosts a reception-desk with a lobby bar and a summer terrace, a night bar and a restaurant with a beautiful terrace permitting to watch what is going on at the golf course”. The hotel is said to exceptionally combine sports, luxury and art. We look forward to your reactions regarding its contemporary design.

Architect Pedro Useches house Architect Pedro Useches Home : A Shelter for his Art
This is an architect’s home. Just as you would expect, it is fabulous right down to the story behind it. As a young architect, Pedro Useche learned to make furniture because he didn’t have money to buy it. His talent shaped his artistic expression and his residence represents his success. Each furniture piece in this residence is designed by the architect himself, adding character to the interiors. Located in Sao Paolo, Brasil, the residence owned by the Venezuelan architect Pedro Useche can be described as a versatile safe heaven. Each space seems to tell another story yet the whole floor plan feels like a guided tour through the inhabitant’s lifestyle. Its location in the up-the-hill sophisticated Morumbi neighbourhood gives the house an opportunity to offer beautiful panoramas. The three-storey residence gathers 1,000 square meters of private and entertaining spaces. A double-height living room offers plenty of space for the architect’s art collections and creates a bright and airy atmosphere. Solar energy panels are the eco-friendly feature every home needs and the luscious garden creates a sense of equilibrium.
