Studio Hochhauser Blatter Architecture and Planning based in Santa Barbara completed the Whitehead/Bay Residence, a 5,400 square foot project located in Montecito, California. The current owner of this imposing home is Michael Bay, Hollywood film director and producer, who recently put the residence up for sale, requesting the sum of $6.8 million. The home includes three bedrooms, three full bathrooms and two half baths, a one bedroom guest house, full laundry room, ample storage, air conditioning, 3-car garage, and gated entrance. The interior design emphasizes on luxury and comfort with an airy, bright feel and excellent views from most of the rooms. An open plan living room is the focal point of the project and was planned on two levels. A vaulted skylight and a cathedral-like ceiling give this place a sophisticated feel. One could say that the most attractive feature of this home is the infinity pool with spa, which is surrounded by rich vegetation and faces the ocean.

Yesterday’s post on luxury bedrooms invited a comment from Polish visualization specialist Marcin Pajak and we decided to check out his portfolio. Marcin has rendered out some fabulous apartments and rooms which he has put on display on his website. ‘Fresh and modern’ is how we would describe his style and our favorite is the wood and black loft featured at the end.

Euryalus Street House is a contemporary project recently completed by Australian studio Luigi Rosselli Architects. The impressive residence is located in Mosman, a suburb on the Lower North Shore of Sydney. Here is a description from the architects: The plan of this house has two distinct wings and a narrow connection between the two. The connection contains a transparent stainless steel and glass stair suspended over an inside/outside pond and is washed by abundant light from a skylight above. The larger wing is rectangular and rationally planned, the shorter wing is the more irregularly shaped curved section of the house. The front and rear facades are well mannered and integrate the garage and pool seamlessly, having a positive impact to its neighborhood. With its northerly elevated location, it takes advantage of the cooling north easterly breezes, and good solar access. The house is not air-conditioned and is designed to keep cool in summer with ample shutter-controlled natural lighting and ventilation, and has two substantial rainwater tanks for irrigation, toilet cisterns and pool top-up use.” Have a look at the plans of the house in the last two photos for details and let us know if you’re impressed.
