The Nendo Elecom Faucet Stand for iPhone and iPad is the most interesting idea seen this week. An exploration into the world of versatile design and creative, functional ideas – the iPad and iPhone stand shaped like a faucet with water running down into a rippled base is both relaxing and exciting in equal measures. Made from polycarbonate plastic with ABS faucet parts, the stand draws attention like no other – its crisp design surpasses similar gadgets and fabricates a new path for creative iPad and iPhone stands. Clearly the one with the deepest impact is the faucet coloured in blue – it resembles water pouring out of the faucet so much that it can be successfully used as a freestanding decorative object that will become the centre of attention. Also available in black, white or clear, the faucet stand was designed for Elecom by Japanese studio Nendo. No information on the cost or date of release yet, but we’ll be waiting for this one.

3D Visualization hub Evermotion holds contests once in a while where talented designers around the globe pit their 3d rendering prowess. A while back we featured one such contest where designers rendered out library concepts. Here are the results of yet another one of these challenges. Here the designers were given a base 3D model of a house and were asked to come up with a finished render of the house and surroundings. They were free to set their own choice of mood and tone to the scene. As you can see this has produced some interesting results with the styles ranging from heavily industrial to antique and tranquil.

Small spaces can convey the same feeling of comfort and modern design as a large house, provided that the interior decoration suits the space and enhances its unique shape. This next condo is located on the top floor of an apartment building in the Kungsholmen neighbourhood of Stockholm, Sweden. Overlooking the Kronoberg Park – which can be enjoyed from the spacious balcony that receives sun all day – the condominium just had the kitchen and bathroom remodelled. Situated close to restaurants, cafes and shops, the apartment features parquet floors in the hallway and the living room. The small space had to be used to its full potential, so the room was divided in a smart way, placing the kitchen in an alcove and the dining space right next to it. The kitchen is equipped with ceramic hobs, an oven, dishwasher and fridge and was well planned, offering both storage areas and working surfaces. Although it is very small, this apartment is the essence of urbanization, forcing people to come up with smart solutions for small spaces.

Flavaboom frozen yogurt shop was designed by Dune (also responsible for the interior graphics) and is located in Manhattan, New York. We decided to present this project on Freshome, because we consider it quite original, not to mention inviting. According to retail design blog, the concept for this unique yogurt store is an ultramodern, futuristic laboratory. We really appreciate the color palette, and consider it to be a key factor of attraction, especially for children and adolescent girls. The 1500-square foot shop also features numerous light shows also aimed at attracting passers-by. The materials used to decorate the interiors were very well chosen: vibrant pink faux-leather, plum-hued mirrors and other interesting details fill up the place creating an original atmosphere: “There is an indestructible quality to the materials.Being eco-conscience means not needing to redo a project. Bregenz is a lovely city located in Austria, famous for the annual summer music festival called Bregenzer Festspiele.The mind-blowing opera on Lake Tosca was a great success over the years, with almost 150 000 participants during recent editions. For today we decided to present this stunning looking floating stage of impressive proportions especially put together for Umberto Giordano’s opera Andrea Chénier. We consider this scene found on TrendsNow to be overwhelming, which is why we could not help from sharing it further. Amazing light shows, stunts and talented actors make this representation a unique opera experience. But as you can probably imagine, the stage is different for every performance. Bregenz has thrilled its guest on many occasions, with highly original settings and spectacles beyond belief. Freshome readers, are any of you out there classical music fans?
