Welcome to an apartment that inspires joyful living. Invaded by color, this place features so many beautiful details that we found it hard not to enjoy each and every photo in detail. Having a privileged location in the attic of a downtown building, this apartment in Madrid was organized and decorated to accommodate a couple in a bright, sophisticated and refreshing environment. The author of this excellent makeover was the architect Charlie Diaz, who opted for a loft that is both aesthetic and fun. As far as the structure of the apartment is concerned, the available 90 square meters were divided into two floors with lounge, kitchen and toilet on the ground floor. The second level is well differentiated through the presence a walk-in shower next to the bed, a large roof window and a terrace. The Prospect House was designed by architect Jonathan Segal and is located in La Jolla, San Diego, California, on a previously abandoned 7200 square feet lot, vacant for almost 20 years. Here is a description from the project developers: “The architect/owner used the space to build a private, urban residence for his family with an on-site architecture studio. The residence is a stucco box resting on and supported by Corten steel wall planes, providing both privacy and noise attenuation. The main living area is surrounded by a reflecting pool on one side and a glass floor on the other. Below grade, where the office and recreation facilities reside, the glass floor/ceiling liberates the space and allows ample natural light. The house is open and flowing extending the livable space into the private garden and reflecting pool. Boundaries are dissolved and extended through sliding panels and lightness, transparency, and expansive views“. An Interesting Architecture Approach: The Prospect House in San Diego

Laranjeiras Residence was designed by Fernanda Marques Arquitetos Associados and is a fascinating 10,225 square foot summer retreat located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. According to the architects, “both for its technical features and for the design freedom it provides, steel was the material of choice for the house structure. Its outward look, however, is covered in wood, a device used to protect it from the sea air and make it more familiar-looking amid the green Mata Atlântica. In order to provide maximum integration between the internal and external areas, large glazed windows were used, allowing virtually every room in the house ample interaction with the landscape. To counterbalance the use of timber, the essential element in the project's aesthetic arrangement, interior areas were conceived with strong emphasis on the dialogue among materials, either finished or unfinished – oscillating between rustic and high-tech“.
